Located in the charming burg of Multnomah Village, Marco's is a delicious, friendly place to recharge your batteries before or after perusing the shops. Although a little on the pricey side for breakfast, Marco's gives patrons their money's worth through prompt service, tasty food and attractive presentation. If you're heading there for breakfast or brunch, I recommend the cheese blintzes, which are served with a variety of jams. My partner also swears by the Huevos Rancheros, if you're in more of a hearty mood.

Other specialties of the house include the scrumptious Mulligatawny soup (served every Thursday), the sweet-but-subtle creamy cardamom tea, and the wide selection of sandwiches with plenty of avocado and other fresh ingredients. If you stay for dessert, the bread pudding garners high praise. Personally, though, I don't see how you could order anything other than the Chocolate Velvet Cake, a mouth-watering confection of chocolate mousse and hand-made whipped cream (not too sweet!) atop a moist, dark-chocolate crumb crust. -Emily
